KEEPITREEL FOR DESKTOP CHROME
Getting started.
Choose your checks, learn the warning colours, and keep control of your feed.
1. Install and pin
Open the official KeepItReel Chrome Web Store listing when available, choose Add to Chrome and review Chrome’s permission prompt. Open Chrome’s Extensions menu and pin KeepItReel so you can see its toolbar badge.
Get KeepItReel for Chrome ↗2. Choose where to check
In KeepItReel settings, open Web & message protection. Website scanning is optional. Gmail and Outlook checks need a separate opt-in. Enable suspicious-link checks if you want explanations for supported concerning link patterns.
After changing permissions, refresh the relevant page if controls do not appear. Unsupported layouts and browser-internal pages may not be checked.
3. Choose how warnings appear
Click the monkey on a supported post, inbox row or opened email to read the explanation. For a quieter layout, turn off Show monkeys on websites in the extension popup. Enabled checks continue; click the toolbar icon and choose View warnings.
The toolbar number counts distinct warning types on the current tab. It does not count individual emails, videos or blocked ads.
| Indicator | What it means |
|---|---|
| Green | No matching warning patterns in the completed enabled check. Not proof of safety. |
| Yellow / amber | A disclosure, possible concern or limited coverage. Read the explanation. |
| Red | A stronger request pattern, such as asking for a private code or payment to claim a prize. Not proof of fraud. |
| Grey in an inbox | Only preview information is available. No safety conclusion. |
| No toolbar badge | No reported warning types. Checks may also be disabled, unsupported or awaiting access. |
4. Make your feed yours
On supported YouTube videos and Shorts, open the monkey to see local analysis and choose Hide video or Block creator. Undo reverses the action. Automatic hiding of suspicious posts is a separate choice in settings.
Website checks look for explicit AI self-disclosures and visible-link patterns. They do not establish whether an entire page is human-made.
5. Tell us what needs work
Use the feedback option to suggest a feature or describe a missed or incorrect warning. Include the platform, the action you took and what you expected. Remove private messages, addresses and codes before sharing anything.
Pause, remove access or uninstall
You can pause a site and start it again, adjust source rules, and clear local data in KeepItReel settings. Chrome’s extension settings let you remove site access or uninstall. Files you exported remain on your device until you delete them.
